Cradley Church, An Historical Tour

The Tower

The lowest section of the tower is 12th Century Norman; the stonework is irregular, and would have been rendered and painted white, as were Norman castles and cathedrals. The upper level is 14th Century and finished with facing stone. At the south-west corner, a deeply-worn stone has been used for sharpening implements and possibly arrows for archery training. Also on this corner is an Ordnance Survey height mark.
